Happy Happy and other Happenings

So what's a girl to do on a hot Monday afternoon? Well the Roth girls headed over to Los Angeles County Museum of Art to run around in cups. An artist created a huge interactive installation of colorful plastic cups and containers. Super cool and made up very happy happy.

What's been happening...well let's see...this past weekend we went with Gramma Bev to a funeral in Corona. Gramma grew up with next door a family in Lakewood and one of the sisters (Judy) passed away a few days ago. The girls were so good and patient (ok after about an hour and a half of a very nice memorial, we did go play on the grass outside and finally had to end up watching Sleeping Beauty and crawling around in the air conditioned car for a bit). Gramma was grateful for us being there and we were of course happy to lend our support any way we could. Brian used to play with Judy and Jenna's (Judy's sister) kids when he was little and we went to their weddings years ago. At Jenna's house, Molly was one of the only girls so she loved running around with all the boys.

Weekend before was my b-day. We had lunch with Gramma Ata at King's Hawaiian in Torrance - best cake ever. Brian took off a few days due to Harriette's surgery and also for my bday. Then the four of us ventured over to Disneyland/CA Adventure for a few hours..Soaring Over California is so much fun with a wide eyed "weeee" 3 year old. Watched Electrical Parade.

Harriette was born with 2 skin tags on her left ear - our pediatrician ruled out any kidney issues (ears & kidneys develop at the same time). It was a cosmetic surgery but our pediatrician recommended getting them removed before she got too much older.

So on July 9 she had surgery to get them removed. She couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight the night before so I gave her a bottle around 10:45. We had to leave the house around 5:30am to make sure we had enough time to get to Newport Beach. Fortunately Harriette was sleepy still and wasn't quite hungry yet. Brian and I were both there. Gramma Ata stayed with Molly at home and took her to her last Tiny Tot I swim class. We waited about 1/2 hour or 45 min in the waiting room, then back to pre-op room... the staff was absolutely incredible. But we did have to give her an oral sedative so she could be moved by the nurses into surgery. It took about 1/2 hour I think - it seemed longer. They didn't want to do an IV (very wise) so they gave her a shot to put her under.

When surgery was finally over, she was really out of it...kept wanting to be held by me and then switched to Brian's arms. She was more disoriented than anything. We waited until she had some water and calmed down and then drove her home. The stitches are self dissolving and the wound (very small - Dr said not even one drop of blood) was covered with that skin glue. She fell asleep in the car and then slept for several hours after we got home. We put socks on her hands to keep her from scratching her ear. She woke up in a great mood and has been great since! She hasn't really noticed it much and I'm glad it's done and that she is recovering well.

Fourth of July we were up in Cambria at my moms. Gramma Bev, my dad, the girls, Brian, my cousin Jim and his wife Liz and their kids Annie & Seamus all hung out! Nothing beats my mom's potato salad. And after 21 years, my mom finally walked down to the beach and watched the fireworks. It was pretty cool. The girls didn't get scared. In fact, Harriette slept through most of the show. The weather was beautiful and the company was even better. Molly had a blast having all her loved ones around.

What's next...the wedding! Auntie Bo (my sister) and Uncle Terry are tying the knot on August 15. The girls have matching dresses - so so cute. However I did have to bribe Molly with another dress to get her to wear green instead of pink. She is such a girl.

OK I've rambled on enough...Good night and thank you for all your love and support.
