Harriette Walks!

Today Harriette started walking! It was around 6:30/7pm. She was in jammies, had a nice bath and playing with her walk with/ride on toy ladybug. She has been walking and practically running with it for over a month now. Today she finally had the confidence to let go and walk. She's almost 16 months. Molly walked at 14.5 months. My mom says I didn't walk until 17 months! Molly was a little jealous with all the attention we were giving Harriette but that's to be expected.

We were up in Sacramento for my sister's wedding on the 15th. The girls looked gorgeous. My sister and Terry looked super happy. It was nice weather but it was hard running around with the girls and trying to stay calm for my sister's sake. Champagne at 10:30 am helped. Beautiful garden wedding. Family and friends. My sister dancing with my dad to Kermit the Frog's Rainbow Connection was for sure my favorite part. Terry's family is amazing. Wished we lived closer to them.

Molly finished up Tiny Tots II swimming class. She jumped off the diving board in the deep end! She's so brave! She is holding her breath underwater now...mostly because we went swimming in the super shallow pool with her friends she met in swim class.

Brian & I spent our first night away from Harriette on Friday night. Gramma Bev and Gramma Ata were here...couldn't have gone more smoothly (at least that's what they told us!) Thank you Grammas!! What would we do without you! My girlfriend Nora (she is the friend I have known the longest - 2nd grade) and her daughter Samantha (who's 12!) watched the girls on Friday morning until Gramma Bev got into town. Thank you Nora! I think all the attention and love from friends and family Harriette has had in the past few weeks for sure led to her confidence and readiness to walk.

OK my thoughts are all over here. Just thinking about how it's going to be with both of them running around. Fun and challenging! Wish us luck!

How is it August Already?

So only a few weeks until my sister ("Auntie Bo") and "Uncle" Terry get married! See preview of the dresses above. I had to bribe Molly to get her to wear a dress that was not pink. Boy are they going to look cute at the wedding! We are flying up to Sacramento and there will be gatherings galore! "Big" Terry (Terry's dad) and Jan (Terry's stepmom) are hosting pre and post parties at their amazing place in Shinglesprings. The wedding will be at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Placerville. It is going to be HOT...that I'm not so much looking forward to but all the festivities will make up for it. Terry's family is so wonderful. It's so cool to be getting more family members!

What else has been happening? Molly didn't want to go to swim class last week because the week before she went underwater and sank a little and did not like it one bit. I think we are on for trying again tomorrow. We are prepared with pink goggles and a Princess Aurora bathing suit. We met two friends in our Tiny Tots I class - they are twins (Haley and Danielle) and we have been having fun seeing them at the pool. We even joined them at the beach a couple of weeks ago.

Harriette's scars are practically invisible. I've been covering them with a scar gel 2x a day and then applying sunscreen so they really will be invisible in a few months. The whole experience didn't seem to bother her one bit and I'm glad it's over with. She has been cruising like crazy and will walk assisted. She'll be 15 months at the end of this week and she is still not walking. We aren't concerned because Molly didn't walk until she was about 14.5 months and my mom said I walked late too. Harriette is really verbal and starting to point at things she likes/wants. It's going to be so cool when she starts talking. I thought it was loud with Molly...the two of them together...magical mayhem!
